Choosing a rank tracker got harder in 2026. Prices went up, every tool now promises AI search tracking, and since September Google has been serving poisoned results to rank trackers, which makes the reliability of the data more important than ever. We compared eight of the most used rank trackers on what matters: price, how many keywords you get, how often they update, and whether they track AI answers. Prices were checked on each vendor’s pricing page on October 19, 2026.

The 8 best rank trackers in detail
SE Ranking
Best for: most small businesses, freelancers and growing agencies. Price: $129/month for 2,000 daily keywords, or $103.20/month billed yearly; Growth is $279/month for 5,000.
SE Ranking gives you the most daily-tracked keywords per dollar among the full SEO platforms in this list. The Core plan also includes site audits, keyword research and backlink data, so for many teams it replaces two or three tools. When Google started poisoning tracker results in September 2026, SE Ranking was one of the vendors that published notices and fixes quickly.
- Pros: a generous keyword allowance for the price, daily updates, a no-card trial with 750 keywords, and AI prompt tracking included
- Cons: the full AI Search tracking for AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity is a paid add-on ($89/month)
Semrush
Best for: teams that want one suite for every SEO task. Price: the SEO plan is $139/month ($117.33 billed yearly) with 500 daily keywords; Pro+ is $299/month with 1,500.
Semrush’s Position Tracking is solid and well integrated with the rest of the platform: keyword research, site audits, backlinks and competitive analysis. You are paying for the suite, not for the tracker. If you already use Semrush for research, its tracking is the obvious choice. If you only need rankings, a specialist is cheaper.
- Pros: the most complete SEO toolkit, large keyword and competitor databases, and AI visibility tracking from the Starter plan
- Cons: expensive if you only need rank tracking, and the entry plan includes only 500 tracked keywords
Ahrefs
Best for: SEOs who already rely on Ahrefs for backlinks and research. Price: Lite is $129/month with 750 tracked keywords; Standard is $249/month with 2,000.
Ahrefs Rank Tracker is part of the Ahrefs suite and makes the most sense for teams that already pay for its backlink and keyword data. In September 2026, Glenn Gabe noted that Ahrefs picked up ranking changes after Google updates faster than some other tools, although no tool was immune to Google’s anti-scraping measures.
- Pros: excellent backlink and keyword data in the same account, and a free Ahrefs account for basic data on your own site
- Cons: fewer tracked keywords for the price than SE Ranking, and the update frequency is not stated on the pricing page
AccuRanker
Best for: enterprises and agencies tracking thousands of keywords. Price: from $224/month for 2,000 keywords, up to 5,000 on the same tier; the Expert plan is $764/month.
AccuRanker is a specialist: it does one thing and does it at scale. It is popular with agencies that report rankings to many clients and need to refresh data on demand, for example right after a Google update. Higher plans add AI click-through and AI search volume estimates.
- Pros: fast daily updates, on-demand refreshes, strong tagging and reporting, and integrations with Search Console, Analytics and Looker Studio
- Cons: a pure rank tracker with no site audit or backlink tools, and premium pricing
Nightwatch
Best for: local businesses and teams that want to track AI answers. Price: Starter is €79/month billed yearly (€99 monthly) with 500 keywords and 50 AI prompts; Professional is €159 with 2,500 keywords.
Nightwatch is the most complete option here for tracking both classic rankings and AI answers in the same dashboard. Its location targeting makes it a good fit for local SEO, where rankings change from one neighborhood to the next.
- Pros: AI prompt tracking on every plan, daily and on-demand checks in any location, and a 14-day trial without a card
- Cons: prices are in euros, and the entry plan has fewer keywords than SE Ranking
Wincher
Best for: small sites and freelancers on a budget. Price: from about €39 to €49 a month for 500 keywords.
Wincher is the simplest way to get daily rankings for a few hundred keywords without paying for a full suite. It is a good first paid tracker for a blog or a small business.
- Pros: affordable daily tracking, simple interface, competitor tracking and an integration with Yoast SEO for WordPress
- Cons: no on-demand updates on the entry plan, local rankings only weekly, and no AI answer tracking
Mangools SERPWatcher
Best for: beginners who also want easy keyword research. Price: included in the Mangools suite, from roughly $30 to $50 a month depending on plan and billing.
SERPWatcher is not sold alone: you get it with the Mangools suite. It is a good choice if you are starting out and want keyword research and rank tracking in one cheap, simple package.
- Pros: very easy to use, and it comes with KWFinder, one of the friendliest keyword research tools
- Cons: weekly updates except on the Agency plan, and no AI answer tracking
Advanced Web Ranking
Best for: agencies that track many keywords weekly. Price: Pro is $139/month for 7,000 keywords at weekly frequency; Agency is $279/month.
Advanced Web Ranking (AWR) is a veteran tool built for reporting. If weekly data is enough for most of your keywords, it gives you more keywords for the money than any other tool here. AWR also documented the data issues caused by Google’s anti-scraping measures in 2026.
- Pros: huge keyword allowances, flexible update frequency, unlimited users and projects, AI visibility tracking and a 30-day money-back guarantee
- Cons: daily tracking uses seven times the keyword units, so the allowance shrinks to about 1,000 daily keywords on Pro
How Google’s poisoned results affect your choice
Since September 2026, Google has been sending some automated requests fake but normal-looking results pages. Nozzle measured that 8% of the results it collected were affected, with a peak of 27% on one day. Every tool that scrapes Google is exposed, so no rank tracker can promise perfect data right now. What you can choose is a vendor that is transparent about it:
- Look for a public status page or data notices. SE Ranking, Advanced Web Ranking, Sistrix, DataForSEO, Morningscore and Nozzle all published updates about the problem.
- Prefer tools with on-demand refreshes. Poisoned results usually disappear within three days, so being able to recheck a suspicious drop saves you from false alarms.
- Connect Search Console. Most trackers can import Search Console data. Comparing both is the fastest way to spot bad data.
How to choose a rank tracker
- Count your keywords honestly. Most sites need far fewer daily keywords than they think. Track your money keywords daily and the rest weekly.
- Decide if you need a suite. If you also pay for keyword research, audits and backlinks, an all-in-one tool like SE Ranking or Semrush is cheaper than separate tools.
- Check local and mobile tracking. If you serve specific cities, you need city-level tracking, and mobile results often differ from desktop.
- Think about AI search. Classic rankings no longer tell the whole story. If AI Overviews, AI Mode or ChatGPT matter in your niche, pick a tool that tracks prompts too.
- Use the free trials. SE Ranking and Nightwatch offer trials without a credit card. Track the same keywords in two tools for a week and compare them with Search Console.
