What this domain authority checker measures
Type a domain and get an authority estimate from 0 to 100, built only from open, verifiable data. No signup and no daily limit for normal use.
- Tranco global rank: an academic ranking of the top 1 million websites that combines several traffic and popularity sources and is averaged over 30 days, which makes it hard to manipulate. We also show the 30-day trend.
- Open PageRank: a PageRank-style score from 0 to 10, calculated from the link graph of the Common Crawl web corpus.
- Domain age: the registration date from public RDAP records.
The SEOOn score uses a logarithmic scale, the same idea behind other authority metrics: moving from rank 1,000,000 to 100,000 is easier than moving from 1,000 to 100. A site in the global top 1,000 scores around 72, and a site at the edge of the top 1 million scores around 30.
Domain Authority, Domain Rating and other metrics
“Domain Authority” is a trademark-style name used by Moz for its own metric. Other SEO tools have their equivalents:
- Moz Domain Authority (DA): predicts ranking ability from Moz’s link index.
- Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR): measures the strength of a site’s backlink profile.
- Semrush Authority Score (AS): combines links, organic traffic and spam signals.
None of them is used by Google. Each tool calculates its score from its own crawl, so the numbers for the same domain differ. Use any of them to compare sites with each other, never as an absolute truth. Our score is based on open data, so anyone can verify where it comes from.
How to use domain authority in practice
- Evaluate link opportunities: a link from a high-authority, relevant site is usually worth more than many links from weak sites.
- Size up competitors: compare your score with the sites ranking for your target keywords to see how realistic a keyword is.
- Track progress over time: the Tranco trend shows whether a site is gaining or losing visibility.
How to increase your domain authority
Authority grows as a side effect of being useful and well known. Earn links with original data and research, create tools and resources that others want to reference, get mentioned in your industry’s media, and fix technical issues that waste the links you already have. Avoid buying links: it is against Google’s guidelines and rarely moves real rankings.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Moz Domain Authority?
No. Moz DA uses Moz’s own link index. Our score is an independent estimate from open data: the Tranco ranking, Open PageRank and domain age.
Why does my site have no score?
The Tranco ranking only covers the top 1 million websites. Smaller or newer sites are not listed yet, which usually means low authority for now.
Does domain authority affect Google rankings?
Not directly. Google does not use any third-party authority score. These metrics try to approximate how strong a site’s link profile and popularity are.
How often is the data updated?
Tranco publishes a new list every day. Results are cached for 24 hours.
