Domain Lookup

Look up any domain: registration and expiry dates, registrar, name servers, DNS records (A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT), hosting network and SPF and DMARC.

Registration data from public RDAP records, live DNS records and the hosting network.

Everything about a domain in one place

This lookup combines three public sources: RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS, for registration data; live DNS queries for the domain’s records; and the IP registry to identify the network that hosts the website.

What you can find

  • Domain age, registration, update and expiry dates, and the registrar.
  • Domain status, such as transfer lock.
  • Name servers, which tell you which DNS provider the domain uses.
  • DNS records: A and AAAA (IP addresses), MX (email servers), NS, TXT and CAA.
  • Hosting network: the organization that owns the IP address of the website.
  • Email security: whether the domain has SPF and DMARC records.

Why it matters for SEO

  • Before buying an expired or second-hand domain, check its age and history.
  • When a site goes down, DNS and name servers show whether the problem is the hosting or the DNS provider.
  • Missing SPF and DMARC records make it easier for spammers to impersonate your domain, which can damage your brand.
  • An expiry date that is too close is a risk: an expired domain can be lost with all its rankings.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the owner’s name not shown?

Since GDPR, most registrars hide personal contact data in WHOIS and RDAP. Registrar and dates are still public.

What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?

RDAP is the newer, structured protocol that registries are adopting to replace WHOIS. It returns the same kind of data in a machine-readable format.

Why do DNS results differ from other tools?

DNS records are cached around the world, so recent changes can take up to the record’s TTL to appear everywhere.
