Nofollow

A link attribute (rel=”nofollow”) that asks search engines not to pass ranking credit through a link.

Since 2019 Google treats nofollow as a hint rather than a strict rule, and it introduced two related attributes: rel=”sponsored” for paid links and rel=”ugc” for user-generated content.

Paid or sponsored links must carry sponsored or nofollow to comply with Google’s guidelines.
